The pharmaceutical company implemented a global redesign of their supply chain to reduce overall costs. They developed and implemented a comprehensive SCM/Logistics strategy and IT systems for North American operations, aligning business goals for service levels, compliance and costs with operational practices. A key requirement was an optimized supply chain network with fewer distribution centers.

Our Contribution:

  • Perform business process re-engineering of all North American Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution systems and processes, and develop short and long-term strategies (Organizational, Global Supply Chain, Warehouse and Distribution processes, Compliance, IT-ERP/WMS)
  • Develop a Warehouse & Distribution Compliance Strategy (Sarbanes Oxley, GQPs)
  • Develop and implement a Warehouse & Distribution system (Marc Global/SAP)
  • Perform a North American Supply Chain Network Optimization study
  • Create Import and Export process redesign (Compliance, Cycle time reduction)
  • Develop and implement a long term Transportation Strategy
  • Develop a Warehouse & Distribution Remediation strategy for the Puerto Rico manufacturing site to address FDA compliance requirements
  • Implement a Third Party Logistics (3PL) Outsourcing
  • Complete a Change Management impact analysis

ASC Associates led a team generating $70 million in cost savings over a three year period through the application of Supply Chain process improvements, Lean Sigma principles, IT systems and best practice implementation. Projected savings of $20 million over the next 3 years are expected by implementing key strategic initiatives (ERP/WMS).
