Airplane Pilot in Cockpit

Expeditionary Combat Support System (ECSS) is a major IT and ERP initiative that transformed the Air Force logistics process impacting 250,000 users worldwide. The key challenge in this project was to convert a platform of over 250 different systems supported by multiple vendors to a single Enterprise System. The impact of the initiative was to drive costs savings derived from logistics process improvements, inventory reductions, elimination of process redundancies and IT infrastructure costs.

The Major Objectives:

  • Implement a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)-based system (ORACLE 12)
  • Introduce standardized business processes and tools across the entire enterprise
  • Provide universal access and visibility to consistent, real-time information across the enterprise

This program transformed the worldwide logistics operation resulting in a projected savings of over $10 billion.
